30,000 visitors celebrated the 20th anniversary of Sommernachtstraum

For a moment, it looked as though the weather might put a damper on the Midsummer Night's Dream. But in the end, the event was able to resume after a brief interruption. Thirty thousand visitors had come to the Olympic Park to celebrate the 20th anniversary.

On two stages, top national and international acts created an electrifying atmosphere—led by Max Giesinger, Ásdís (in a slightly shortened set), and Nico Laska on the main stage. On the Peninsula Stage, Altin Gün and the Munich-based HyTop Soundsystem got the crowd dancing into the evening—only Cosmica Bandida’s performance was unfortunately cut short due to the program interruption.

“I’m relieved that the weather held out after all and that we were able to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our Olympiapark event with so many visitors. We all enjoyed wonderful artists and a breathtaking pyrotechnics show. I would like to thank our team and all our partners who made this summer night’s dream possible,” summarized Marion Schöne, Managing Director of Olympiapark München GmbH.

A First for Drones and XXL Art
On the festival grounds, an XXL installation by the artist duo Lando and Bert transformed Hans-Jochen-Vogel Platz into a walk-in portrait gallery, while four other artists created unique photo spots. The grand finale, themed “Brilliant Reflections – The 20th Dream,” set new standards: For the first time, a drone show complemented the legendary fireworks display. 50 drones, 6,150 firework strings, and 170 different pyrotechnic effects immersed the Olympic Park in a spectacular sea of color and sound—perfectly choreographed to music ranging from classics to current hits. In addition to the main and peninsula stages, there were numerous quiet spots and places of enjoyment for strolling, savoring, and marveling. On the Dream Stage and in the Sound Container, the audience discovered carefully curated sounds from the local scene—from poetic pop to electronic storytelling. Two stages that invited visitors to listen and linger.
